We are happy to say that Goodyear Cottage has become a popular venue with an increasing number of artists. So, applicants should be aware that there may be a two or even three-year wait to be scheduled for a show or to repeat as an exhibitor. Priority is given to artists exhibiting at Goodyear for the first time. Exhibiting artists are selected by a Jury Committee that meets twice a year, in October and in April, to consider work by artists wishing to have a show in Goodyear Gallery. It is important to note that you should time your submission around the Review and Selection committee meetings.
Those hoping to exhibit should send an e-mail expression of interest to jiaaexhibits@gmail.com and include photos of his or her work and/or a link to a website. These will be distributed for Committee members to review. Artists will be contacted once the committee has met and determined a schedule. Exhibit dates and pairings will then be negotiated with selected applicants with details made a part of a contractual agreement. As the date for their exhibit approaches, exhibiting artists will be contacted by the appropriate exhibit managers.
One of the responsibilities of the exhibiting artists is to host an opening reception. This is usually held on the first Sunday after opening, between 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. It is a great opportunity for our members to meet and talk with the exhibitors themselves. Everybody also enjoys the Wine and Appetizers that the hosts provide.
Gallery Exhibit Managers
- Zay Foster (jiaaexhibits@gmail.com) ~ November thru May
- Carol Fritz (cfritz1@maine.rr.com) ~ November thru May
- JoAnn Buisson (jmorgan728@bellsouth.net) ~ June thru October
The exhibit managers make an effort to have both 2D and 3D work in every show, for example Pottery and Wall Art. Art work is of a wide variety of physical size, thus the numder of pieces requested from an artist for exhibition will rarely be below 20 pieces or above 40. Every item that is placed in the exhibition will remain for the exhibition month. It will be for sale and have its price shown. The maximum price that is accepted for exhibited work is $2,000. Only work that has never been shown in our gallery previously can be entered.
We try on this site to give a preview of the current exhibition using a slideshow of images. These images are representative of the Gallery Exhibition items for the current month. If a question of Copyright exists, the artists and the managers will resolve it so no harm occurs to the holder. Typically the artists will be asked to provide 6 to 8 color images (.jpg, 1x1 or 2x1 aspect ratio). The image gallery will be posted on the site no earlier than the Public reception. We hope that it will enable people who are outside the area and unable to attend, to see the work and talent of the artists.
