Call for Entries for the official image celebrating
Jekyll Island Arts Association 50th Annual Arts Festival
to be held March 7, 8 and 9, 2025
The 2025 festival is very special as it will be the 50th Annual JIAA Spring Arts Festival. The winning image must celebrate JIAA, its location on Jekyll Island, its members and be appropriate for replication on T-shirts, posters, cards and other JIAA promotional items.
The winning artist will receive a $500 cash award. The competition is open to visual artists and photographers who are members of JIAA. You may become a member at jekyllartists.com/membership. The annual membership fee is $30.00.
Submission start and end dates: August 15, 2024 to November 15, 2024
Submission Requirements:
• Open to members of JIAA. Membership can be paid at time of entry.
• Entries must be a minimum size of 14” x 24” and no more than 24” x 36”. Designs with a height roughly 1.5 times the width are preferred.
• Space for event information such as JIAA 50th Annual Arts Festival 2025 and the event dates and times is recommended. These elements will be added by a JIAA volunteer in the space provided by the artist.
• Only original artwork that has not been reproduced previously should be entered.
• The winning image must be available in high-resolution format (300 dpi with no pixelation) and be appropriate for a variety of printing processes such as T-shirts, cards, posters and other promotional items.
• Each artist must submit entry to jekyllartists@gmail.com and attach a digital image or photo of the original. Entries may be 72 dpi for committee review, but final image must be printable at 300 dpi.
• Each artist may submit up to three entries.
• Mediums accepted: Digital artwork, acrylic, oil, color pencil, pastel, watercolor or photography.
• Original artwork becomes the property of The Jekyll Island Arts Association in perpetuity. The winner of this competition retains the right to display and use the work for the artist’s own promotion. The winning artist also agrees to allow their name and likeness to be made public in any and all festival promotional material or
advertisements.
• JIAA reserves the right to accept or reject all work submitted during this competition..
• Finalists will be required to submit original artwork to the selection committee.
Entries will be judged on:
• Clarity of Theme: Does the design relate to Jekyll Island and the Jekyll Island Arts Association festival?
• Technical Application: Is the design ready to be printed on a variety of items including t-shirts, posters, signs and cards?
• Originality of Design: Is the design unique and has not been reproduced previously?
• Artistic Expression: Does the design leave a lasting impression and inspire attendance to the arts festival?
The winning artist will be notified via email by December 1, 2024. Artists whose entries were not selected will be notified via email by December 1, 2024. If you have any questions, please contact jekyllartists@gmail.com.
