Volunteer Job Descriptions - 2025 Merry Artists

  • Problem Solver - Must be a certified Crowd Manager.  Responsible for starting cider in morning and cleaning up in afternoon.  Open Cottage in morning, secure and close cottage in afternoon.  Be on hand to fill in where needed and take care of problems.
  • Cashiers - Must be front desk trained and experienced.  A special training session will be provided in November.
  • Wrappers - Assist cashiers by wrapping and bagging items at the register.  No experience needed.  If not needed at the desk, wrappers can assist shoppers.
  • Set-Up Assistant - Volunteers work with and at the direction of the set-up team to place items in displays, unpack pottery and other items, break down boxes for the trash and help tidy the shop areas during set up. This includes sweeping floors and taking out trash.
  • Cottage Host/Hostess - The Host/Hostess will be on site to assist guests with the elevator as needed, keep an eye on tidiness of the cottage i.e. pick up cups left behind, straighten displays as needed, assist guests as needed.  A training session for Host/Hostesses will be held in November.
  • Bake Sale - This position will set up the bake sale with donated baked goods prior to the opening of the Cottage for the day.  Volunteer will need to arrive about 30 minutes prior to opening. During the day makes sure the display is replenished and attractive.  Assist with self-serve spiced cider. At end of day be sure all baked goods are packed into sealed coolers and that no food is left out.
  • Intake Runner - Assist the intake team with items coming in for the sale.  This job requires the ability to do a lot of walking and some stair climbing.  No heavy lifting but must be able to move boxed items from a cart to a storage spot.  May also include carrying wall art from the intake table to the Gallery.
  • Out take - Assist the Out take team by helping gather artists items together for the artist to pick up.    Assist with items which will be placed in the shop for the new year
