The Jekyll Island Arts Association (JIAA) is launching a Capital Campaign to fund the expansion of its campus to facilitate its many artistic activities. JIAA will be re-purposing part of the old Jekyll Island Fire Station to expand its classroom space and move the pottery studio out of the frequently flooded basement. The JIAA is honored and grateful hat the Jekyll Island Authority has identified this space near to Goodyear Cottage for its use. The new space will enable the Association to better support the artistic, cultural, literary, and educational development of Jekyll Island and the local community.
The campaign goal is $150,000, which JIAA estimates to be the cost of basic re-
purposing and equipping the identified part of the Fire Station. Further details of the proposed work will be available in the near future at jekyllartists.com
We are proud to report that to date:
The Jekyll Island Pottery Guild, together with other Association artists, raised $25,051* from the sale of pottery and other art items in the Goodyear Shop and at the Arts Festival.
Two Pottery Guild class instructors donated their class fees from the 2023/24 season.
We have received $4,986 from the memorial funds for Al Kline, Art Sennet and Darrell Davidson.
Recently, four members of the Pottery Guild donated a total of $10,500, and two members have promised a total of $7,500 in 2025.
Together with the Arts Association’s own contribution of $32,750 from its reserves, these donations place the Capital Campaign at a grand total of $80,787.
We are therefore well on our way – BUT we urgently need your help to reach our
goal. Since potters will receive the greatest benefit from the expansion, we are offering you the chance to show your early support for this project.
You can donate by check. Checks should be made payable to the Jekyll Island Arts Association with the notation “Capital Fund” and dropped off at our sales desk, or mailed to Jekyll Island Art Association, PO Box 13201, Jekyll Island, GA 31527.
