Bio
My brother brought my first camera to me from Germany in 1955. I took pictures, set up a darkroom, and experimented with photo papers, dodging and burning, and even developing color prints. In 1984, this hobby evolved into a profession as I began work in the Mayo Clinic Biomedical Imaging Resource software laboratory, where I spent 20 years as a systems analyst and software engineer. I also taught computer courses in the Mayo graduate school. Retiring in 2004, I took up photography again as an avocation, studying landscape and nature scenes as we traveled the US in our motor home. Using the Arts Festival as a yardstick, I honed my photographic skills from the raw image to the print, taking Prof Morin's class and workshop for guidance. Seeing that digital development skills were not being taught at JIAA, I developed my class (all puns intended) to share my experience in that area. My lovely wife Consuelo and our terrier terror (named "Pixel") now migrate between Friendship, Maine and Jekyll in our motor home, taking side trips along the way. We both volunteer for the Red Cross Disaster Relief, and take leadership roles in the DOVEs, an RV based Red Cross group. I help coordinate activities in the Campground in the winter, and I spend summers developing the JIAA web pages, another avocation which I enjoy. I enjoy cooking. We have kids and grand-kids in Massachusetts and New York.
